To strengthen our research capacity and further our impact, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate Research Lead to lead our research initiatives and provide critical insights into the effectiveness of our programs.
Position Summary:
The Research Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing all research activities within the organization. This position will lead the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects that support our work. The ideal candidate will possess strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, a deep understanding of the non-profit sector, and a commitment to using research to drive meaningful social change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of research strategies that align with the organization’s mission and programme objectives.
- Design and oversee quantitative and qualitative research projects, including baseline assessments, impact evaluations, and needs assessments.
- Identify key partners to lead aspects of the research process, including data collection, analysis where necessary.
- Provide technical guidance and support to programme teams in integrating research into programme development, implementation and evaluation.
- Collaborate with external research partners, universities, and other stakeholders to ensure rigorous research methodologies and high-quality data.
- Write and present research reports, policy briefs, and other materials for internal and external audiences, including donors, partners, and policymakers.
- Ensure the ethical conduct of research, including adherence to data protection and privacy laws.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of research projects, ensuring timely delivery of research outputs and ensuring budget compliance.
- Contribute to proposal writing and grant applications, providing research insights and evidence to support funding requests.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in research methodologies and sectors related to HOMEF’s work.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Social Sciences, Environmental Science, Public Health, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in research with a focus on Environmental Justice, Public Health, Food Sovereignty or Human Rights.
- Proven experience in designing and managing research projects from inception to dissemination.
- Experience with programme evaluation, impact assessments, and research ethics.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Strong communication skills, including report writing, presentation of findings, and stakeholder engagement.
- Previous experience in the non-profit sector or with organizations focused on environmental justice, public health, education, or human rights is an advantage.
- Knowledge of donor requirements and research funding processes is a plus.
